The world is not peaceful. Maybe it never will be. On the other hand I have peace. My peace is enduring, steady, always present. It is rooted in my Faith. If you don’t have peace, than question your faith.
The history of Christianity is littered with stories of people who were faced with horrible circumstances, tragedies, loss, heartbreak and strife. But two traits stand out as a testament to faith, peace and joy. And one response…love.
You can argue about form and function, you can make faith into a series of rules and law. A person who has faith doesn’t need a rule or a law to tell him to help the poor, his faith compels him and he only has peace when he acts out his faith. A person of faith doesn’t need to be told to go to church, his faith compels him to communion with his creator. Can a good man do good things without faith? Yes. But no man is born without faith. Faith awakens. It isn’t created, we all have faith. We couldn’t exist without it. We have faith in gravity and in oxygen. We go to bed having faith that we will wake up and breathe. We have faith that the world will produce food to feed us. That our houses will stand in a storm.
When you walk into a building you have faith in the builder of the building, you have faith in the architect and engineer. You don’t say that with words, you say it by walking in and sitting peacefully. So it is with life. God gave all of us faith. We just don’t attribute it to Him. Because we don’t want to believe. So we breathe the air that we cannot explain, we live each day surrounded by a world we cannot justify the existence of, looking for any other personage to attribute it to. Zeus, Gaia, Odin, Ra, Pangu, Brahma. All gods who have never appeared, who have never shown themselves. Jesus came. Jesus was killed. That’s a historical fact. And Jesus cane back from the dead, something witnessed to by many. To believe that twelve young men, came up with a hoax, convinced people to die for that hoax, and kept the hoax going for 2000 years sound perposterous …thats the argument that Christians make. But the other religions make claims and have been here longer. Our response is that those religions worship the created, not the creator. That they have faith in the building, not the builder, the architect or the engineer.
Only faith brings peace. If your faith is in the created, your peace may fade. Mine is in the Creator. It never fades.
