I am struck by the persistency of GOd and His understanding of our communal nature. We are the consequence of liefs that were not our own. We adopt them. If I was born a Hindu, I will most likely be raised as a Hindu. Same for a Muslim or a Jew. Or any other major religion. The decision to adopt that creed, that dogma, which will shape my understanding of good and evil, or morality, of ethics and even love.. Was made generationally by location and the society around me. This when the Bible talks of our consequences being the consequences of our ancestors, it speaks a truth that is hard to conceive. Could my great great grandparents choice ot become Muslim, leading t my being Muslim, be something that God on High will hold me to account for? Or does God reveal Hislef ot each of us, does He enlighten our mind at a time where we can see clearly, and calls us to choose the path to Light or darkness, THere was a documentary about the police the Nazis sent to Poland. THey were men who did nt make the requirements for the draft, so the Nazis made them into a police force in Poland. Electricians, bakers, plumbers, just ordinary people. Their job was to find Jews, take them tothe woods and kill them. A job they all accepted and performed. The documentary explained there reasoning for willfully accepting what to our eyes, was murder, without raising objections. They also specialized in a small degree, one would only shoot mother, one would shoot children, one babies. They each had there own justification and after work they would all eat drink and be merry as if from a normal workplace. Apparently humans are capable of accepting and adopting evil, so deeply tying it to our soul, that we cannot see or recognize good. We even can redefine evil as someting good. That ability to convert Evil into Good is a lie, it can never be accomplished Evil will never be Good. Those are the accomplishments of the Devil. A being so utterly powerless and malevolent that he relies on trickery and cunning to corrupt our very thoughts, with an eye towads corrupting future generation In light of this the persistence of the Jewish People, through good times and bad times, is a remarkable accomplishment. It demonstrates a mind and a will set on God Himself. They formed the beachhead for the invasion of God into this earth. THey held that beachhead until Jesus came. Once Jesus came we broke free and went on a roll, converting the nations. We faltered when we allowed ourselves to think that we understood God and had a pipeline ot Heaven. We became the tool of dissension, the ambassador of the Devil when we subverted the Christian world with chaos, all in the name of Jesus.Something all Christianity must atone for and take responsibility for addressing. We need humility, as did the Jews at different points. THere humility, was Gods humility. THey were a people who could not be vanquished, whose God was stronger than all other gods. But He allowed His people to be vanquished to stamp out their rebellious and arrogant ways. Bringing shae upon Himself, demanding Himself for the sake of His people Yet while the nation served as His tools to chastise, they all obeyed His will and their disposition was one which served Him.How are we to argue with a God who can span the millenia, who can turn the course of history, who can create and destroy with impunity? We are fools who choose to follow our own path rather than His. As if we can stand on the tracks and stop a train. Faced with an offer of friendship, love and loyalty from such a God, how is it that we say no. How is it that we do not run open armed into the loving arms of a being who has not only professed but deominstrated a Love that exists outside of time. That is consequential. GOd created us with a word, and He did not because we were important to His plan for the future. We all play a part, one that make God smile when He see us fulfilling it. God give me the grace I need to be your person.
